The History of Perfume in the Holy Land
The perfume industry in the Holy Land has it genesis over 3,000 years ago when the Queen of Sheba sailed up the Red Sea to pay her historic visit to King Solomon, the King of Israel. One of her gifts was the prized BALSAM plant, (also known as the PERSIMMON SHOOT). These shoots were transplanted to the lush oasis of Ein-Geti on the shores of the legendary Dead Sea where perfumers extracted the balsam essence to create the most sought after perfume in the ancient world. Solomon cultivated these precious perfumes by the shores of the Dead Sea. Although Jerusalem at that time became a center for extracting sweet essences from the balsam plant, the turbulent events that overtook the City over the course of the ensuing centuries effectively ended Jerusalem's perfume making industry. 

Now, with "Essence of Jerusalem", this has been wonderfully revived.   There is a rebirth of the Holy City's perfume industry. After a hiatus of several thousand years, the ancient craft of perfume making has been re-introduced into the Holy City. Using essences extracted from 90 different plants growing in and around Jerusalem and the Judean desert, a spectacular new perfume and anointing oil that captures Jerusalem's sense of eternal harmony has been created!
